<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">The coffee production process <strong>consumes a large amount of water resources</strong> and simultaneously generates a significant amount of <strong>wastewater and sludge</strong> into the environment. While there are many technologies and types of equipment for coffee wastewater treatment, not every factory has access to a solution that is truly suitable in terms of investment cost and emission reduction.</span></p>

<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">The wet coffee processing method is a complex process that requires the use of various machinery and consumes a significant amount of water, typically applied when processing Arabica coffee.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">This method produces coffee beans with a bright, clean flavor and is often used for high-quality coffee types.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">Dry processing, also known as the natural method, is a more traditional and simpler method. Dry-processed coffee often has a sweet flavor, full body, and intense fruity notes.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">In Vietnam, roasted coffee is mainly processed using two common methods: the <strong>wet processing method</strong> and the <strong>dry processing method</strong>. However, the <strong>dry processing method</strong> remains the primary and more popular method, especially for the <strong>Robusta</strong> coffee variety, which accounts for the majority of coffee production in Vietnam (about 90% of total output).</span></p>

<p style="margin-top: 0;"><span style="color: #333333;">&#8211; Roasted coffee processed by the dry method typically generates less water than other methods because the dry method relies mainly on <strong>natural sun-drying</strong> without using water in the main processing steps.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;">&#8211; Wastewater is generated mainly from <strong>cleaning workshops and equipment</strong>: In large processing facilities, periodic cleaning of machinery and floors can create a certain amount of wastewater containing dirt, coffee residue, and impurities from the production process.</span></p>

<li><span style="color: #333333;"><strong>Organic Content (COD, BOD)</strong>: Although there is not a large amount of organic matter from the main production process (as water is not used for fermentation or pulping), wastewater from cleaning can still contain a small amount of organic substances from coffee grounds, husks, and other parts of the coffee cherry. <h3><span style="font-size: 90%; color: #68ac44;"><strong>III. Limitations of Current Wastewater Treatment Solutions for Roasted Coffee Production</strong></span></h3>
<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">Current wastewater treatment methods for roasted coffee production typically combine the following treatment processes:</span></p>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;"><strong>Mechanical treatment</strong> (sedimentation, filtration) to remove suspended solids.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;"><strong>Physico-chemical treatment</strong> (coagulation, oil and grease separation) to remove insoluble substances and oils.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;"><strong>Biological treatment</strong> (aerobic, anaerobic) to treat organic substances.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;"><strong>Membrane filtration technology</strong> to enhance the quality of the treated wastewater.</span></li>
</ol>
<p><span style="font-size: 100%; color: #333333;">Current coffee wastewater treatment methods can handle most pollutant concentrations to meet environmental discharge standards and are applied in many coffee production facilities in Vietnam. However, considering various factors including treatment efficiency, cost, feasibility, and environmental impact, there are still many limitations:</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ed1c24; font-size: 100%;"><strong>&#8211; Requires a large area to construct treatment tanks, which can be a challenge for businesses where land needs to be prioritized for production.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ed1c24; font-size: 100%;"><strong>&#8211; Large volumes of wastewater and high monthly discharge fees to industrial parks/clusters are a significant expense.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ed1c24; font-size: 100%;"><strong>&#8211; A large amount of sludge is generated that requires subsequent disposal, further increasing treatment costs.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ed1c24; font-size: 100%;"><strong>&#8211; Biological treatment methods are quite sensitive to fluctuations in pollutant loads, causing many factories to face operational difficulties and frequent incidents.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #ed1c24; font-size: 100%;"><strong>&#8211; High energy consumption, which indirectly increases greenhouse gas emissions.</strong></span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">According to the data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment as of the end of March 2021, the country currently has 392 established industrial parks with a total natural land area of about 119.9 thousand hectares (out of the total 575 industrial parks in the development planning of industrial parks in Vietnam as approved by the Prime Minister).</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Of 392 established industrial parks, 286 industrial parks have officially come into operation with a total natural land area of about 85.2 thousand hectares, an industrial land area of about 57.3 thousand hectares and 106 industrial parks are under basic construction process with a total natural land area of about 34.7 thousand hectares, industrial land area of about 18.2 thousand hectares.</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Vietnam is emerging as a new industrial production center in Asia and receiving an increasingly large wave of FDI investment, so the number of investment projects in the field of infrastructure for industrial parks, industrial clusters is very vibrant. INDUSTRIAL URBAN ZONE development is emerging as one of the prominent trends in recent years. &#8220;<strong>Green Value</strong>&#8220;, &#8220;<strong>Sustainable Development</strong>&#8221; become <strong>KEY SELLING POINTS</strong> in the race of infrastructure investors to attract the customers, increase economic and service revenue, but not, any investor has enough financial potential to invest in GREEN infrastructure even though it clearly understands the value this benefit brings.</span></span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">In the <strong>pharmaceutical industry</strong>, purified water is a widely-used raw material in pharmaceutical manufacturing and plays a decisive role for the quality and safety of each product. Therefore, in every <strong>pharmaceutical manufacturer</strong>, the water treatment system for manufacturing activities must be strictly managed, ensuring simultaneous factors: quality, stable operation.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>1. Why do we have to treat water before using it to manufacture pharmaceuticals?</strong></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 0cm;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">The water used to supply the <strong>pharmaceutical</strong> industry usually comes from:<br />
</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Underground-water</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Water from clean water supply plants in the area</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-left: 0cm;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Underground-water sources are often characterized by high amounts of dissolved substances, mainly manganese, calcium, and magnesium, while clean water from water supply plants is not up to the production quality assurance. Therefore, pharmaceutical enterprises are required to treat input water sources to remove impurities or microorganisms that affect the quality of pharmaceuticals.<br />
</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 0cm;"><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>2. Standard of water supplied for pharmaceutical production activities<br />
</strong></span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Currently, purified water for pharmaceuticals activities in Vietnam is according to GMP standards. Specifically: </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Normally, the water used in pharmaceutical industry is classified into 04 categories for different uses:</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Domestic water that is municipal tap water, used for dining area, toilets, watering plants outside the production area</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Demineralized water that has undergone soft water treatment, removed some impurities ions in water and some microorganisms, mainly used for boiler water, autoclaves for injections &#8211; eye drops, rinsing bottles for eye drops, syringes, machines ..</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Pure water that is used to prepare products that do not require sterility and are free of fever-causing substances</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><span style="color: #000000;">Distilled water</span></strong></span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>4. What factors should a pharmaceutical manufacturer consider when investing in a water treatment system?</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Currently, the technological process of water treatment for pharmaceutical manufacturing needs to ensure (03) the following factors:<br />
</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Water quality</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Easy to operate</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 16px;">Saving operating costs</span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">In addition, businesses also need to consider a number of other factors:</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Requirements for machinery and equipment: technical assurance, with clear origin</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Analysis, survey of input water before treatment for production</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Careful analysis of the use needs for each stage of pharmaceutical manufacturing, to make appropriate treatment plans</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Consider long-term economic performance, including operation, maintenance, and labour costs</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>5. Purified water for pharmaceuticals solution provided by NGO:</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Technological advantages:</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Concentrated water from the filtration system can be reused, without oxidation risk for the RO filtration stage from oxidizing gases.</span></span></span></li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Low-power operation</span></span></span></li>

<ul>
<li style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: white;">Multi-material pretreatment system: removes sediment and suspended particles in water, and absorbs free chlorine, to prevent oxidation of free chlorine while avoiding damage to RO membrane at Post-processing step. The material can also adsorb heavy metals, small organic molecules. After this step, the turbidity in the water is controlled at SDI ≤ 5.</span></span></span></span></li>
<li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-right: 0cm; margin-top: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: white;">2-stage RO filter system: The reverse osmosis device has the advantages of compact structure, small area, high production volume and low energy consumption. Reverse osmosis equipment is the most important desalination equipment in this process, including safety filter, phase I pump, phase I RO system, phase II pump, phase II RO system. It also help eliminate bacteria, virus and heat source.</span></span></span></span></li>

These salts include anions and cations. More than 99% of ions can be removed by appropriate reverse osmosis (RO). Municipal water also contains trace metals, dissolved gases (such as CO2) and other weak ionic compounds that must be removed in industrial applications (such as boron and silica).</span></span></span></span></li>
<li style="margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="background-color: white;">The conductivity of water after the RO filtration step (the input water of the EDI demineraliser) is usually between 4 and 20 us / cm, ie the reaction rate is 50-250 kΩ.cm; and according to different application fields, the resistance of pure or deionized water is usually from 2-18.2 MΩ. Demineralization process is to remove unwanted ions through hydroxyl ion exchange or hydroxide ions.</span></span></span></span></li>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">Currently in Vietnam, there are two main sources of water for electronic manufacturing, namely undergroundwater or water from clean water supply plants in the area.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">However, the quality of underground water is currently not guaranteed and may have possibility of pollution, containing heavy metals, microorganisms &#8230; due to domestic and production activities. Therefore, electronic manufacturers are required to treat input water.</span></span></span></p>

</div>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>1. Disadvantages of current water treatment technology</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;"><strong>Water treatment</strong> plants in Vietnam have a fairly simple water treatment process, mainly using traditional sedimentation and filtration technology (more: http://ngoenvironment.com/vn/Tin-tuc-n37-QUY-TRINH-XU-LY-NUOC-CAP-CHO-SINH-HOAT-PHO-BIEN-TAI-CAC-NHA-MAY-NUOC-d149.html) This technology has the advantage of low investment cost, basically treating of pollutants such as turbidity, low organic matter concentration (COD &lt;5 mg / L), metals contained in water such as Fe, Mn, Mg, Ca, however this process also has many disadvantages:</span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Using chemicals such as lime water, PAC, polymer or potassium permanganate (KMnO4) to treat pollutants, in case the chemical is used in excess or incorrect dosing, it will generate toxins in water supply or the treatment efficiency will be low.</span></span></span></li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">The management of water quality is performed by periodic testing (monthly, quarterly) by the authorities. Many water plants have not been equipped with automatic monitoring system, which always makes it difficult to control water quality. Moreover, the water quality depends much on the operational level and management capacity of each investor. This is an unreasonable point in the water quality management policy in Vietnam. According to Decree No.40/2019 / ND-CP, coming into effect from July 1, 2019, production facilities with discharge wastewater flow from 500 m3 / day to 1000 m3 / day must install automatic monitoring systems while there has not been a similar management regulation on the water supply plants with production capacity up to hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of water per day and night.</span></span></span></li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">Traditional technology is incapable of handling complex pollutants in water supply if the water source is polluted due to unsatisfactory discharge from industrial, agricultural or salinity. For example:</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<p style="margin-left: 40px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">(i) Heavy metals (Arsenic)</span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 40px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">(ii) Dissolved organic matter (COD component which is smaller than 0.4µm in size)</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 40px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">(iii) High hardness, ≥ 300 mg / L CaCO3. Raw water contains a lot of Cations, creating hardness in 3 main types: Ca2 +, Mg2 +, HCO-3, Cl-, SO2-4. If the water has a high hardness of over 120 mg / L CaCO3, there will be a lot of sediment when boiled.</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 40px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">(iv) Ammonium (NH4+)</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left: 40px; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;"> (v) Nitrate (NO3&#8211;)</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>2. Treatment solution with Ion-exchange Resin method designed by NGO<br />
</strong></span></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #000000;">The <strong>ion exchange</strong> treatment method is very efficient in removing ions in wastewater, including cationic ions that create water hardness, water-soluble COD components or toxic metal pollution in water. In the fine treatment methods including RO, Electrolysis, Electro De-Ionization, <strong>ion exchange</strong>, the use of ion-exchange resin materials has the advantage of lower investment costs and simpler operation.</span></span></span></p>

<p><strong><span style="font-size: 100%; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;">With optimal design, simple operation, electrocatalytic technology is effectively applied to treat aquaculture wastewater by using electrolysis catalytic reaction equipment to thoroughly remove pollutants in wastewater such as COD, BOD, Ammonium or pathogenic microorganism.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><span style="color: #669900;">1. Composition of aquaculture wastewater:</span></strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">In Vietnam, besides the forms of aquaculture in cages, the forms of aquaculture in ponds and lakes are very popular and developed in many localities throughout the country. The main aquaculture species are freshwater fish, prawns, black tiger shrimp &#8230; With the rapid development of the aquaculture industry in recent years, a large amount of wastewater from many aquaculture units has not been thoroughly treated, leading to the risk of polluting water sources in general and lakes water in particular, significantly impacting on aquatic life and human life. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Aquaculture wastewater in general and wastewater from fish, shrimp farming in particular have high concentrations of COD, BOD, N and harmful microorganisms due to organic sources from surplus feed, bio-products used in stock-raising and waste water from livestock. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">1.1 Characteristics of wastewater from fish farming:</span> </span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Fishpond water is polluted mainly by excess organic matter in water from food sources. The fact that, only about 17% of food is absorbed by fishes and the rest (about 83%) mixed in water then becomes decomposed organic matters. Stool and other wastes shall deposit in the bottom of pond, which make COD, BOD, N and other pathogenic microorganisms increase. If the waste source is discharged into the environment, it will cause eutrophication at receiving sources or algae blooms. In addition, wastewater containing residual chemicals (e.g:  antibiotics for fish) must be treated. </span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">1.2 Characteristics of wastewater from shrimp farming:</span> </span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Wastewater of shrimp farming contains large amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and other nutrients, which cause super-nutrients, thereby increasing the initial productivity and proliferation of bacteria. The presence of carbonic compounds and organic matter will reduce dissolved oxygen and increase BOD, COD, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and methane content in natural waters. Another problem caused by shrimp farming is sludge sedimentation in the surrounding areas, such as mangroves. Most of substances in shrimp farming water are deposited at the bottom, which is a threat to shrimps, and shrimp farming. This mud layer is very toxic, contains many harmful substances such as ammonia, sulfur compounds&#8230;.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong><span style="color: #669900;">2. Treatment solution applied to wastewater in aquaculture ponds and lakes using electrocatalytic technology.</span></strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">2.1 <u>Advantages:</u></span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Directly treat wastewater in ponds and lakes without affecting fishes and shrimps; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Water in ponds and lakes are continuously treated by using electrolysis catalytic reaction equipment immediately. The method saves water and periodic water changing cost; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Simple operation and periodic cleaning; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Decontaminating harmful wastes such as ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2-) to help keep aquatic life in clean and healthy water. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Break down protein and nutrients, reducing total organic matter levels in water </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Reduce the start-up time of the tank/ pond (Nitrogen Cycle) and prevents new tank/pond syndrome </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Minimize odor from pond water </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Improve the transparency of water </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Support to increase the longevity, density and weight of shrimps and fishes in the ponds, thereby improving economic efficiency.</span></span></li>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Electrocatalytic treatment technology for <strong>aquaculture wastewater</strong> which contains a large amount of salts, organic matter, sulfur compounds, heavy metal ions, acid, alkaline &#8230; This technology uses oxidation reaction of the hydroxyl (OH) free radical group with very strong reaction in short time. Most of the organic waste through the system is quickly broken down into carbon dioxide, water, and smaller organic and inorganic ions through oxidation.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">With many economic benefits for farmer, optimized design, simple operation and cost saving, aquaculture wastewater treatment solutions by Electrochemical catalysis technology introduced and developed by NGO will contribute to the effective treatment of pollutants in aquaculture wastewater, ensuring that after-treatment water meets the requirement of QCVN 01-80: 2011 / BNNPTNT standard.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The production of <strong>food and beverage</strong> usually does not require a water source with a very low conductivity compared to that required by the manufacture of electronic components or pharmaceuticals. The conductivity required will depend on the particularities of the product. Common water standards for food water production are equivalent to QCVN 01: 2009 / BYT or higher.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>1. Pretreatment by multi-material filter</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">&#8211; Removal of most of the suspended, pre-insoluble residue, helping to achieve the required transparency<br />

<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">&#8211; Adsorption of color, odor, and organic pollutants in water</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">&#8211; Treatment of residual chlorine in water supplied from municipal water plants</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>2. Water softening</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The complete removal of ions that cause hardness in water such as Calcium, Magnesium to eliminate scaling, clogging of pipes, equipment, especially cooling, or boiler systems need special attention, because Vietnam urban water supply is applicable for a high hardness standard (~ 300 mg/L CaCO3), most factories are still supplying hard water for domestic use or directly using well water for their production activities.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>3. The further treatment of specific pollutants for each wastewater source</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">Most water treatment systems in water supply plants in Vietnam do not have technological components to treat special pollution in water source, for example: Nitrate, Ammonium, heavy metals, organic pollution in water sources at high level to ensure all parameters will meet drinking water standards. Therefore, if the enterprise&#8217;s water source is polluted with these components, it is necessary to pay attention to supplementing the corresponding technological component when building the water treatment system.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>4. Purified water production by RO system</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">Some <strong>beverage</strong> industries such as the dairy industry and the beer industry have higher requirements on the safety and quality of water used in the production process, so many factories will need to be equipped with purified water production systems with RO technology, and will usually need 1 RO level only.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The function of the <strong>RO</strong> system is to eliminate all bacteria, viruses, and water conductivity. After RO filtration, all molecules and metal ions larger than 0.001 µm in size will be removed. However, there is still a risk of reinfection of the bacteria on the pipeline or at the point of use.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>5. Intensification of sterilization</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">The sterilization, killing bacteria and risky microorganism on the pipeline by ultraviolet rays before use will ensure 100% pure output water.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">High standard pipeline design ensures thorough elimination of microorganisms not only at the filtration system but also at the points of use.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px; color: #559b3f;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>6. Notes on standards</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">Standards of equipment, pipes, tools and installation methods for water treatment systems should be equivalent to those applied by factories, for example Vietnamese standards or European standards. The system is often designed to be fully automated.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>1. In the treatment of domestic waste water, which parameter is the most commonly exceeded?</strong></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Depending on the applicable standard is QCVN 14 or QCVN 40, the main parameters to be treated include COD, BOD, TSS (suspended solids), Ammonia, TN (total nitrogen), TP (total phosphorus); in which the most difficult to handle is Ammonia &amp; TN. If Ammonia and TN are removed well, other remaining parameters obviously meet the standard.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>2. Why do enterprises now face with difficulties in choosing solutions?</strong></span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Solutions need large footprint area or too expensive cost; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Many small Wastewater Treatment Contractors offering cheaper cost, but not ensure quality and fail to provide good after-sales service; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Lack of resource &amp; skills to operate the system; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Lack of technology knowledge to compare and choose the suitable contractor; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Having experienced with bad quality wastewater treatment system, and loosing trust in contractors; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Pressure from local authorities.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>3. What called Smart B ?</strong></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>SmartB</strong> is the trade name of <strong>domestic wastewater treatment</strong> solution launched by NGO on the basis of moving or static microorganism filter (biofilm), capable of overcoming the disadvantages of traditional activated sludge technology or MBBR, commits to stable processing efficiency while ensuring low <strong>investment costs.</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>4. Eight out-standing advantages of SmartB</strong></span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Low power consumption (&lt;0.2kWh) </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Total volume required for treatment system always less than total discharge capacity. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Microbiology completely not exist suspended in wastewater but adheres to materials layers in the form of biofilm, which lead to high shock-resistance capacity of microbiology when the environment and discharging activities have been changed, maintain stable treatment results; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Sludge density reaches 8000 mg / l; decreases up to 50% area compared to traditional solutions. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Exceptionally effective treatment of ammonium, including high-grade ammonium with ammonium concentration of more than 60 mg / L due to environmental separation for reducing COD, BOD microorganisms and nitrifying bacteria (nitrifiers) </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Small volume of sludge, sludge discharging cycle is more than 06 months; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Simple operation, don’t worry about wash-out or loss of microorganisms during operation, no need to manage the flocs of microorganisms in reaction tanks. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Mobile design system and easy transportation when relocating or transferring.</span></span></li>
</ul>

<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>5. Smart B Treatment Process</strong></span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Wastewater after coarse screening and grease removal, shall be pumped into the SmartB treatment system, where anoxic and aerobic microbiological reactions will take place under the environment of evenly distributed DO (Dissolved oxygen) within the reaction tanks. Dissolved oxygen is controlled less than 0.3 in anoxic tank and more than 1.0 in aerobic tank. Anoxic tank has the function of removing COD, BOD and NO3-. Aerobic tank functions as removing COD, BOD, and NH4 +. After the organic and nutrient components are thoroughly treated in microbiological tanks, water will be filtered in the Filter tank to remove most of the suspended solids TSS before being discharged into the environment.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #669900;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><strong>6. Why NGO is your good choice?</strong></span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">We are equipped with excellent technological background, being representatives of many worldwide well-known technology brands in Vietnam with strong development strategy. </span></span><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Successfully proven through more than 30 projects. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">With NGOs, enterprises will be instructed with tools to perform water quality testing on their own, without relying on third parties, thus can self-check the quality of contractors and any testing service agency; </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">After-sales service is always available for any advice, support or troubleshooting through telephone, zalo, or in-site support. </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Water quality after treatment is stable, no worry about Government’s inspection</span></span></li>

</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #669900;"><strong>3. Treatment solutions currently applied to petroleum production waste water:</strong></span></span></span></p>
<ul>
<li style="margin-top: .4pt; margin-right: 8.0pt; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #404041;">Coagulation, floatation method: Low cost, easy deployment but not thoroughly treated, because super-small mineral oil molecules are difficult to fully coagulate or flotation. Therefore, after-treatment water normally still contains oil. </span></span></span></li>
<li style="margin-top: .4pt; margin-right: 8.0pt; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #404041;">Filtration method by using membrane: Can filter up to 90% of the amount of gasoline in the effluent or higher depending on the filtered material. The cost of treatment is usually very high, the material is not reusable and after-treatment water may still has the characteristic smell of oil. </span></span></span></li>
<li style="margin-top: .4pt; margin-right: 8.0pt; margin-bottom: .0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="color: #404041;">Material-adsorption method: Can remove oil thoroughly, but the material is quickly saturated (for example, oil-impregnated cloth), easy to be clogged, especially in waste water with high TSS content, high processing costs</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<figure class="image" style="display: inline-block;">
<figure id="attachment_3923" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-3923" style="width: 636px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-3923 size-full" src="https://oldsite.ngoenvironment.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/he_thong_xu_ly_NT_nhiem_dau_-_NGO_DA_SUA.jpg" alt="" width="636" height="251" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-3923" class="wp-caption-text">Oil contaminated wastewater treatment systems</figcaption></figure></figure>
</div>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: justify;">After the study period, NGO could provide a solution <strong>Oily wastewater treatment</strong> that can thoroughly treat mineral oil by chemical adsorption and has much cheaper cost than using adsorption materials. Reaction time is shorter and mineral oil is removed almost completely. After-treatment water has no odor. The solution is suitable for projects with small scale discharge capacity as well as projects with large discharge capacity. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; text-align: justify;">Wastewater with reside generated from storage tank rinsing process (1-2 year/time) is the effluent source of highest oil contaminated level, from tens to tens of thousands ppm. Characteristics of this type of wastewater is high concentration of oil and high inorganic residue.</span></p>
